FAQs About Insurance Restoration

Will my insurance rates increase if I file an insurance claim?

Insurance costs are rising nationwide. Don’t just take our word for it – check out these recent articles for more insights regarding why insurance rates are increasing across the US.

Recent insurance-rate articles

We’re not insurance experts; however, it is clear that factors like your roof’s age, condition, and materials, your property’s location, weather damage history in your area, coverage options, claim history, and overall home maintenance can all influence rates. The data we are seeing says your rates are going to increase next year whether you file a claim or not.

Does Advocate work with my insurance company?

Yes, Advocate works with all insurance companies. However, your home must qualify for coverage, which means there must be a weather-related event that caused damage. We specialize in working with insurance companies every step of the way. If the insurance doesn’t cover the full project, we also offer financing options to ensure you’re covered. Either way, we’ve got you!

Can I work with Advocate even if I don’t file an insurance claim?

Of course! We’re happy to work with you regardless of whether you file an insurance claim. Plus, we offer great financing options to help you keep your monthly payments low.

How do I know if my home’s damage is covered by my insurance?

Most homeowner’s insurance policies cover storm damage, including hail, wind, and fallen debris. The best way to determine coverage is to review your policy and file a claim with your insurance provider. Advocate Construction can assist by performing a free inspection and helping you navigate the claims process.

Why did my insurance company discredit Advocate?

Insurance companies will sometimes challenge or discredit contractors who stand up for homeowners. We’re here to simplify the process for you so you don’t have to work with your insurance company on your own.

Radcliff v. State Farm Case Summary

How much will I have to pay out of pocket for my restoration project?

Every insurance policy is different, and coverage varies depending on your provider and policy type. Your out-of-pocket costs will depend on whether you have an Actual Cash Value (ACV) or Replacement Cost Value (RCV) policy, your deductible, and what your insurance company approves. Advocate Construction can help you understand your coverage and work with your insurer to ensure you receive the maximum benefits allowed under your policy.

Are there payment plans and/or financing options available to cover my out of pocket expenses?

Absolutely! Check out the next section for details about our financing and payment plan options. We have a team of people in our finance department that can help get you the perfect option to meet your needs.

What should I do with my pet during construction day?

Totally your call. The build day will be noisy… all day long. If your pets are sensitive to loud sounds like booms, fireworks, balloons popping, thunderstorms, you might consider other plans for them for a long walk at the park, a visit to Grandma’s, take-your-pet-to-work day, the kennel, or even a spa trip! If your pets stay home, please secure them in a safe room or kennel. Our crew will be moving around constantly across the roof or exterior of your home, so keeping them inside is essential for their safety.

Why is my invoice taking so long?

If your project is going through your insurance company, delays can occur as we work to ensure all necessary items are covered. Our goal is to build your home to meet manufacturer specifications and municipal codes, which sometimes requires adjustments to the initial insurance estimate to include all required line items.

This back-and-forth process can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on how quickly the insurance company responds. Rest assured, we’re dedicated to resolving everything as efficiently as possible.

What is my responsibility when it comes to cleaning up?

Roofing, siding, and exterior remodeling can get messy; there’s just no way around it. During construction, expect debris as we remove dumpsters full of old shingles or siding materials to make way for the new ones. Cleanup happens at the end of the project, so please avoid the work area if possible, and be cautious if you need to pass through.

If your project is complete and you’ve had your quality walkthrough but still notice an issue, don’t worry give our Customer Success Team a call or text at 913-386-6700, and we’ll come by for an additional cleanup.

My project is slightly out of warranty, but I noticed an issue. What should I do?

Give our Customer Success Team a call or text at 913-386-6700, and we’ll schedule one of our Quality Control team members to stop by to take a look at no charge. Our goal is to assess the issue and determine its cause.

Many of our manufacturer warranties last 10+ years, so your project may still be covered under a manufacturer warranty. If it’s not, we’re happy to help identify a solution and work with you to get the problem resolved. If there is ever going to be a charge for this we will let you know in advance and in writing.
